Room-Specific Considerations to Keep in Mind

Living room: This is typically the most demanding room because seating distances are longer and multiple viewers sit at different angles. A tilting or full-motion mount gives you flexibility that a fixed bracket cannot.

Bedroom: Viewing height is different here — you're often lying down or semi-reclined, which means mounting slightly higher than you would in a living room can actually be appropriate. Glare from bedside lamps is a common and overlooked problem.

Kitchen or small nook: Distances are short, TVs are typically smaller, and the primary concern is keeping cables away from moisture and heat sources. A swivel mount is often more useful than a fixed one in these tighter spaces.

Concrete and Masonry Walls Need Special Hardware

Standard wood-stud mounting hardware will not hold in concrete, brick, or cinder block walls. These surfaces require masonry drill bits, concrete anchors or sleeve anchors rated for the TV's weight, and often a hammer drill.
